Licence

DaisyChess is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or (at your option) any later version (GPL-3.0-or-later). In short:

• You may run it for any purpose, study how it works and change it.
• You may share copies, changed or not.
• If you distribute it, you pass on the same freedoms: the source code under the same licence.

The full text is in LICENSE. Stockfish and the lichess board library chessground are GPL-3.0 too, which is one reason DaisyChess is.

Contribute

Bug reports, ideas, translations, fixes and new features are welcome.

Run your own

The web app works on its own with the browser engine. For server analysis, rooms and the review store, run the engine server next to it — one Docker command:

A single host with nginx and systemd, and the community hub, are described in the repository's deployment guide. Want to help the hosted service instead? Run a community node.

daisychess.org is a static site in the same repository (apps/site). It loads nothing from other servers: no fonts, scripts or images from third parties, no analytics, no cookies.
