Your data

Delete your data

DaisyChess has no player accounts. Almost everything lives on your own device, so you can delete it yourself in a minute. Here is how — for the web app, the mobile apps and the operator portal.

1. On your device (web app)

The app stores your settings, the server access token, your openings-trainer progress and the review cache in your browser (localStorage and IndexedDB).

  1. Clear the review cache

Open DaisyChess → Settings → Review cache → Clear cache.

  2. Reset your settings

In Settings, choose Reset to defaults. If you logged in with lichess, log out there too; that also revokes the login at lichess.

  3. Remove everything

Clear the site data for play.daisychess.org in your browser — in Chrome: site settings → Delete data; in Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data; in Firefox: the padlock → Clear cookies and site data. This deletes all of the above at once.

2. Mobile apps (iOS and Android)

Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data on the device. On Android you can also use Settings → Apps → DaisyChess → Storage → Clear storage.

3. On the server

  • Reviews and position evaluations that were uploaded to the shared review store contain only moves and evaluations — no names, no PGN headers, no addresses. They cannot be linked to a person and are removed automatically when the store reaches its size limit.
  • Friend games (nicknames and moves) live only in server memory and disappear when the room expires.
  • Logs contain a daily-changing hash instead of your IP address and are deleted after [7 days — OWNER: confirm]; web server access logs after [14 days — OWNER: confirm].
  • Usage counters of a player token (searches, engine time per day) are deleted after 90 days, or with the token when its operator deletes it.

4. Node operators

Log in to the operator portal and open Account → Delete account. This deletes your operator account (lichess id and username), all your nodes and all tokens you issued, immediately; backups are overwritten within 7 days.

5. Ask us

If you want us to delete or show you anything else, write to hello@daisychess.org. Because our data is pseudonymous, it helps to mention a token id or the approximate time of use. We answer within one month, as the GDPR requires. More in the privacy policy.
