All features, all free
Everything DaisyChess can do.
One board for playing, analysing, reviewing and training. Here is the full list — grouped the way you will use it.
Play & analyse
A clean board with a strong engine next to it — in your browser or on a server.
A board that gets out of the way
Drag and drop or click to move, legal-move highlights, undo, flip, and a move list in standard notation. Step through any game with ← → Home End.
Stockfish in your browser
Stockfish 19 compiled to WebAssembly runs on your own device — no server, no upload. Multi-threaded where the browser allows it.
Or on a server
Native, multi-threaded Stockfish on a server or a community node streams its lines to you. Switch between browser and server at any time.
Several engines side by side
Run more than one engine at once and compare them in tabs, each with its own depth, number of lines and threads.
Eval bar and best lines
A live evaluation bar (always from White's view, mate scores included), up to five engine lines, best-move arrows and a click-to-preview for every line.
Bring any position
Paste a FEN or a PGN, or drop a PGN file. Files with several games show a picker. Copy the FEN of any position.
Maximum strength, if you want it
An optional full-strength browser build with the large network — a one-time download of about 100 MB that you confirm first.
Kind to your device
On phones and iPads the browser engine respects a memory budget, and if it runs out of memory it restarts smaller instead of crashing.
Review
Every game ends with an explanation, not just a number.
Automatic review
Load or finish a game and a fast review starts on its own. Each move is classified from best to blunder, with accuracy for both sides, an evaluation graph and the key moments.
The better move, explained
For every move you see what you played, what was better, the line behind it and how much the evaluation swung — with arrows on the board.
Guided tour
Press play and DaisyChess walks through the game, pausing on great moves, mistakes and blunders with a short comment. Pause, skip, or just take over.
Opening focus
See exactly where you left the opening book, what the book move was, and what leaving it cost.
Clock and time trouble
Games with clock times show the time spent on every move, a clock graph, a per-player summary, and a badge on mistakes made in time trouble.
What players at your level play
For each mistake, Maia shows the move players of your rating most often choose there — so you know whether it was a typical slip or a rare one.
Reviews remember
Finished reviews are kept on your device, so a game you reviewed before opens instantly. With a server, reviews are shared across your devices, and a deeper review reuses what a quick one already found.
Annotated export
Export the reviewed game as PGN with comments and clock times, ready for any other chess tool.
Openings trainer
Learn the lines you actually play, and keep them.
Browse 3,900 openings
Search named openings and variations by name or ECO code — "Italian", "B90" — and walk through each line move by move with its branches.
Drill with feedback
Play your side while DaisyChess answers with book moves. Leave the book and the engine checks your move: fine, or here is what was better.
Spaced repetition
Lines you know come back after days, lines you missed come back now. "Train due" picks the next one. Your progress stays in your browser.
Play it out
At the end of a line, keep going against Maia or Stockfish from that exact position — and review the whole game afterwards.
Play
Against an engine, a human-like bot, a friend, or the whole of lichess.
Stockfish with real clocks
Pick your colour, a strength and a time control — bullet to classical, with increment — and play with premoves, takebacks and a rematch button.
Human-like Maia
Nine Maia levels from 1100 to 1900 play the moves real players of that rating play — mistakes included. Runs on the server.
A friend, via a link
Choose a nickname and a time control, send the link, play. No account. Reconnects after a reload; draw offers, resign, and spectators are built in.
Live on lichess
Log in with lichess and play your live games from DaisyChess through the lichess Board API: seeks, challenges and the lichess AI, with clocks.
Fair play built in
Engines, review and explorer lock while a live or friend game runs. The review starts automatically when it ends.
Import & explore
Your games, and the games of everyone else.
lichess and chess.com import
Type a username and fetch the recent games from the public lichess and chess.com APIs — with clock times — then review any of them.
Opening names, live
The opening name and ECO code follow you as you play or step through a game, transpositions included.
Opening explorer
lichess masters and lichess database statistics for the current position: popular moves, wins, draws and losses, and top or recent games to load. lichess asks you to log in with your lichess account for it.
Make it yours
Looks right on every screen, works the way you like.
Themes
Board colours (presets or your own), Cburnett or letter pieces, coordinates, highlight style, sounds, and light or dark mode.
Phone, tablet, desktop
A board-first layout with large clocks that adapts from phones to wide screens, tuned for iPad Safari. Native iOS and Android apps are on the way.
Accessible
Keyboard-operable tabs and move list, reduced motion respected, and automated accessibility tests. Details and limits.
Community engines
Use a friend's node or the shared pool for strong analysis on a weak device — the app always shows whose machine runs your search. How nodes work.
